Nationwide POTS Line Replacement Installation Services
Contact UsWhat is Nationwide POTS Line Replacement?
POTS stands for Plain Old Telephone Service. It refers to the traditional copper phone lines that businesses have relied on for decades. U.S. carriers are actively shutting down copper infrastructure across the country. Businesses that have not yet switched face real risk when those lines go dark.
The lines most urgently affected are ones that power elevators, fire monitoring systems, security alarms, fax machines, and payment terminals. Many of these lines have compliance requirements that cannot be ignored.
This Requires
- RCopper pair identification and mapping
- RCellular signal validation
- RLine-by-line cutover sequencing
- RMonitoring center coordination
- RTesting, verification, and documentation

Key Questions We Hear About POTS Replacement
Does TechLink sell or supply the POTS replacement hardware?
No. TechLink is an installation-only partner. Your organization ships the replacement device, whether a cellular LTE gateway, POTS-in-a-Box unit, or other hardware, to the site or technician. We handle the installation, testing, and documentation.
What POTS installation methods do your technicians support?
Our technicians support both 66-block cutovers (where wiring is run from the replacement device to the existing punch-down block) and POTS-in-a-Box installations (where the device connects directly to an integrated RJ11 jack with no 66-block work required).
Can TechLink handle elevator line cross-connections?
Yes. Our technicians can complete elevator line cross-connections as part of a standard POTS replacement installation.
How do you handle fire alarm lines?
TechLink technicians can install and connect POTS replacement devices to fire alarm monitoring lines, but panel-side cross-connections for fire and life safety systems must be performed by a licensed fire alarm contractor. We coordinate our scope with whatever licensed contractor your client has on-site.
What line types can be replaced?
We support elevator lines, fire alarm monitoring lines, security and burglar alarm lines, fax lines, POS terminal lines, gate and access control lines, and general voice lines. If you have a line type not listed, contact us. Our technicians handle most standard POTS applications.
